The Ligue de Développement du hockey M18 AAA of Quebec, formerly known as Midget AAA, was founded in 1976 and brings together the top 15, 16, and 17-year-old players in Quebec, totaling 300 players. Present in all 15 regions of the province, the league has emphasized the importance of academic success and perseverance, which is just as important as on-ice success. It was the first hockey league to integrate its athletes into the Sport-Études Program. This offering also provides players with excellent coaching to improve their technical skills, physical abilities, attitudes, and tactical and mental performances.
Many of the Quebec professional players we know today have evolved in this league. Players such as Mario Lemieux, Vincent Damphousse, Martin Brodeur, Patrick Roy, Luc Robitaille, Kristopher Letang, Martin St-Louis, Corey Crawford, Alexis Lafrenière, and many others have passed through this league.
